Weekend Intensive

~ with Debbie Chialtas ~

“The tips Debbie gives out are great! She also makes the class interesting and the soaps fun to make. She doesn’t overwhelm with information. She makes it easy to understand and is motivating. Thank you, Soapylove, for this class!” - Teena Schorr (click here to see more quotes about this class)

Come join Debbie Chialtas of Soapylove for a full weekend of glycerin soap creativity! We will make 8 different projects from her book, “Soapylove”, which is considered the leading book in melt and pour soap crafting today. The materials fee will cover all supplies (provided by Debbie) and each student will bring home a minimum of 16 bars of soap! You will also need the Soapylove book on the day of class, so if you don't have one already, you can purchase one at The Nova Studio the day of the class (cost: $19.99). Debbie will even sign your book after or before the class!

Class Description: Crafters of all levels, from beginner to expert, will enjoy this 1 or 2 day intensive as we make 8 projects ranging from classy Plaid Soaps to Soapylove signature Neapolitan Soapy Pops. There’s even a surprise project planned that you won’t find anywhere else! Students who have taken Debbie’s classes before will love all of the new projects and techniques covered in this action packed, fun weekend.

The projects from the book to be covered are:

Day 1 - 4/16/11 - Saturday, 10am-5pm

1) Neapolitan Soap Pops: Learn how to make the signature Soapylove soap! These adorable layered soaps are made in real popsicle molds. The tricks to getting straight sticks and unmolding will be demonstrated.

2) Plaid Soaps: You will amaze yourself with these beautiful soaps, made with a method that's not as tricky as it looks!

3) Flame Bars: Even rock stars need to take a bath once in a while! This soap is great for all of your cool, edgy friends. Create a neat two-toned fiery look.

4) Soap Tarts: Enjoy this whimsical take on the famous Pop Tart. Use cosmetic ingredients for the sugar sprinkles, and learn how to make pretty frosting tops! Each soap tart is one-of-a-kind.

Day 2 - 4/17/11 - Sunday, 10am-4pm

1) Heavenly Bar Soaps: Channel your inner artist and create a landscape in a loaf mold. This fun and creative project involves embedding and layering, and uses a basic mold in a very new way!

2) Wonder Bar Soaps: With floating balls in primary colors, this adorable sliced loaf soap will make you nostalgic for brown bag lunches. Using a unique ice cube mold to make the balls and lots of layering, this project takes time but is super fun!

3) Lacey Lemon Coolers: With the charm of grandma's kitchen, and the texture of her pretty lace tablecloth, you'll love this super easy, yet impressive soap project. Cookie cutters are used to cut them into sweet heart shapes.

4) Creamsicle Soap Pops - Debbie decided to reveal her Secret Bonus Project early - you'll be making one of the more complex soap pops (with a second color on the inside)! This project isn't in her book, and it's not in her shop, so you have to come take the class to learn how to make & take home this delicious soapy project!
