In this full-day "Advanced Beginner" class we'll explore adding the luster of gold to your PMC designs. We'll examine two methods of adding real gold to your metal clay pieces. In the morning, we'll discuss what designs are suitable for the addition of gold; then we'll design and complete our sample projects so we can fire them during lunch.

After lunch, we'll talk about Keum Boo (pronounced kum-boo) the Korean Method of fusing gold foil to silver - and how it relates to PMC. We'll go thru a simplified process of adding Keum Boo to your metal clay, and then you'll have a chance to apply Keum Boo to your sample designs.

During the rest of the day we'll go thru the process of adding Aura 22 (real 22K gold) to our designs and discuss simple techniques that aren't included in the Aura 22 directions. Last but not least, we'll learn how to torch fire Aura 22 - and get a chance to apply what we've learned to our final pieces.

The materials fee ($40 paid to teacher on the day of class) includes handouts, shared use of Aura 22 (22k gold) and gold foil (24k gold), plus in class use of PMC kits, gold tools, textures & kiln.

What is NOT included in the materials fee is the packet of PMC+. Students MUST bring (or buy from teacher on day of class) 1 package of PMC+ 28 gram. Instructor will have extra PMC available for students to purchase (cash, check, or credit cards accepted). Feel free to bring already fired PMC jewelry to embellish with gold. Also, feel free to bring your own favorite tools, textures and paper punches.

NOTE OF CLARIFICATION: In this class you are NOT working with "GOLD PMC" -
instead you are learning how to apply gold accents to (silver) PMC.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Patrik Kusek is a Senior Instructor for Rio Grande's Rio Rewards certification program and travels the country teaching PMC certification workshop. He is a seasoned PMC artist and member of the PMC Guild. He sells commissioned pieces of jewelry to individuals and also at various galleries. He is a graduate of FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) Merchandise Marketing Program and a graduate of the Academy of Art University. Patrik's work has been published in Art Jewelry Magazine, Jewelry Artist, 500 Pendants and Lockets, New Directions in Metal Clay and various other publications.
